Building a Streamlined Birth Cohort to Study Autism Risk Factors and Biomarkers: Phase 1
Virtua and Drexel University are conducting a study to help identify causes of autism. The research
will focus on new moms and babies, so we’re seeking patients like you to participate.
How will the Virtua/Drexel Autism Study work?
If you agree to participate, Virtua staff members will collect certain samples at the time of delivery, such as a small amount of blood from the umbilical cord.
The study will not interfere with medical care or your birth-plan preferences.
The study will also access pregnancy-related information from your medical records.
Half of participants will be asked to bring their baby to the Drexel Autism Institute at age 6 months for a recorded assessment of their infant’s behavior.
Reasonable compensation is available for your time and travel.
What are the next steps?
If you are interested in joining the study, please complete the interest form.
This form is not a binding commitment. It will simply connect you with the people conducting the study.
